About the Mayfair

Mayfair Theatre is located in the quaint district of  Old Ottawa South, the theatre looks much the same as it did on December 5, 1932, when it first opened its doors.

Since it changed hand in 1984, many upgrades has been done to the candy bar, box office, seats, sound and projection equipment. It now has the latest digital sound system and surround speakers. The layout and decors in the auditorium retains its original charm.

The theatre specializes in Double Bills and provides the best value in town for movie viewing (see admission section for details). It puts out a calendar style flyer every 3-4 weeks for pick up at the theatre. For up-to-date movie information, please visit our website at www.mayfair-movie.com, call our Movie Info Line at 613-730-3403 or check the Movieguide in the Ottawa Citizen and SUN.

It is available for rental for special or private functions and occasions.

"When I first moved to Ottawa from Baltimore Maryland, this was the first entertainment my family discovered and enjoyed. The trip from the States was extremely stressful due to a scheduling disaster and some dangerous road conditions. The lesson we learned when researching moving companies was that doing the due diligence is everything. The first mover cause a huge delay in our trip because of a scheduling error. We finally found the best company in Baltimore and we now know that not all family owned and operated Baltimore movers are equal. The night we arrived it snowed. The following night, our new neighbor invited us to the theatre and my family was able to relax and enjoy a movie - the first of many to come. We became regulars and became friends with the managers. My family is one huge Batman fanbase, so we lobbied hard to get a Batman film on the marquee. My dad offered to promote the film, Batman Begins with a t shirt give-away for the first 25 movie goers to show up on opening night. He bought the shirts at MoonAtMidnight.com our most favorite online shop for Batman apparel. Anyway we got to invite our new found friends to a Batman movie at our favorite venue and we all wore our best Batman t shirts and sat together. Was a fantastic evening we shall never forget. Long live the Mayfair!" JB Wilson
